Why I'm Running: A Voice for the People!

I’m running for Adams Morgan Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner (ANC) because I believe we need more leaders who are committed to making life better for ALL people!

  • I want to bring back (hybrid) ANC meetings.
  • I seek to reactivate the Reed Cooke Neighborhood Association.
  • I support direct community involvement in the ongoing development of Adams Morgan, including projects at the 18th and Columbia Road plaza and at 1617 U Street (the police and fire stations).

I stand with those who are frustrated and angry with systems that devalue and oppress our communities.

I am determined to fight against racism and ensure that every neighborhood—especially Adams Morgan—becomes a cleaner, safer, and more vibrant place to live.

I bring BIG HEART, BIG ENERGY, and BIG DREAMS for our future!

Together, we can make Adams Morgan as rat-free as possible and more enjoyable for everyone.

I am here to listen, to serve, and to fight for you!

Meet Jean Evans

My name is Jean Evans. I moved to the DMV in 1984 and attended the University of Maryland, College Park, where I studied political science. My dream was to attend law school, but when President Reagan cut funding from the G.I. Bill that supported my education—following the sacrifice my father made in World War II—I had to pivot.

I became a flight attendant with World Airways, traveling to incredible places like Saudi Arabia, Israel, France, Germany, Ireland, and Great Britain. These experiences broadened my perspective, allowing me to understand and appreciate different cultures while serving people from all walks of life. After 10 wonderful years of flying, I returned to Washington, D.C., and pursued my passion as a licensed DC Master Aesthetician—until COVID-19 forced me to close my business.

I moved to the Adams Morgan neighborhood in January 2020, but I've proudly lived in Northwest D.C. since 1987. As a single mom with a daughter in her second year at Temple University, I understand the socio-economic challenges many Ward One families face. My daughter attended Oyster-Adams and Adams Morgan Middle School, which further deepened my connection to this community.

I look forward to continuing to support the Adams Morgan community and our many educational facilities, recreational opportunities, and amazing array of experiences we are so lucky to have in our midst and I'm here to listen & to serve, and represent YOU!
